Counterfeit 2010 pins found in circulation
February 12, 2010
On the day of the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games comes news of counterfeit pins in the Vancouver area.
The Pacific Pin Club deplores such illegal and fraudulent activity and encourages all pin traders and collectors to immediately inform authorities when they spot counterfeit merchandise by sending an email to:
VANOC - brandprotection@vancouver2010.com
Pacific Pin Club - olympic@pacificpinclub.org
Canada Border Services Agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, VANOC's Brand Protection Unit and other local and national authorities are actively pursuing all leads.
Authorities will seize all such illegal merchandise when found and may seize the collection and inventory of any person displaying, selling or trading such merchandise. Charges may also be laid under Canada's Criminal Code.
The Pacific Pin Club has obtained images of these counterfeit pins and encourages pin traders and collectors everywhere to download the file below, carry it with them at all times and report any occurrences to VANOC and the Pacific Pin Club by email.
We must police our hobby to maintain the integrity of the worldwide pin collecting community. It is sad that an unsavory and unlawful few will stoop to such practices. Be vigilant and be sure to report any sightings.
